Duke Undergraduate Research Society

2010 - 2014 | Co-President

The principal goal of DURS is to promote research among students and foster their intellectual interests in research. The DURS Executive Board ensures that the organization runs at a high level of quality, encompassing every aspect of the operation from the events to the promotional materials. DURS offers a website as well as other online media that include updated material and resources for interested undergraduates. Our organization also frequently hold events throughout each semester with a minimum of four events (e.g., faculty lunches or workshops) per semester. DURS aims to host events that benefit and act as a gateway to the undergraduate research community.

Duke Biology Majors Union

2011 - 2014 | Co-President

Our new executive board is making great leaps to provide important resources for the large undergraduate population majoring in Biology. I spearheaded two major events this past year alone: Freshman Orientation (for prospective majors) and Finding a Research Mentor (workshop). I also plan to lead initiatives for a Major Declaration reception, faculty dinners, and a Senior Send-Off for graduating majors. Building a sense of community amongst the students and faculty in the department is my principal goal. I hope to transfer and apply these teamwork and group initiative skills in the future as a physician.
