The Roundup: Christmas Cheer

Sometimes I feel like Thanksgiving is neglected - we jump straight from Halloween decorations to Christmas decorations! I love November a lot - all the pumpkin pie, my mom's birthday, Terry's birthday, my own birthday and Thanksgiving of course. We spent this year's Thanksgiving with the Fowlers again and had a lovely time filled with good friends, laughs, and lots of delicious food.
On Black Friday my mom and I decided that we didn't necessarily want to go shopping - the crowds kind of freak both of us out and sometimes the sales aren't even that great (30% off - doesn't it feel like nowadays whenever you walk into a store they're having some kind of 30% off sale?)
We got the necessary Christmas shopping done (early birds get the worm, right?) and I wrote up all my Christmas cards for friends near and far (California, Virginia, North Carolina - check, check, check). Then I got working on a paper for my Psychology class. We picked a local business and analyzed their marketing techniques through the lens of Underhill's Why We Buy. Had a great time writing the introduction because I got to throw in a You've Got Mail reference! The Shop Around the Corner takes on the big, bad Fox books superstore!
Sorry, that probably doesn't make sense. My group chose to analyze the Regulator Bookshop, an independently-owned bookstore on Ninth Street in Durham. It reminds me so much of Meg Ryan's shop in the movie! Wow what a tangent - now back on topic...
We got home from a brief round of shopping and set up all our Christmas decorations! I wish I could show you some more but Wix will only let me upload one. Look at that gorgeous tree! Hope you guys are enjoying the beginning of the holiday season as well!
